Ashiatsu Deepfeet Bar Massage

Barefoot massage is believed to have been developed in Kerala, India about 2,000 years ago by martial arts practitioners who were looking to increase flexibility and decrease recovery time from trainings. From India, the technique spread throughout Asia with new methodologies being added and subtracted to provide balancing support for the practitioner. The use of an overhead bar system was first developed in the 1990s (no lie!) by Ruthie Piper Hardee. The term Ashi (foot) atsu (pressure) derives from Japan. This modality utilizes the feet as the massaging instruments to deliver broad, deep, consistent pressure. It is often described as the MOST RELAXING deep tissue massage on the market. This is my favorite modality of massage to receive. Whenever I find myself lucky enough to be the Ashiatsu client, I always wake up to a puddle of drool under the face cradle after! This treatment is perfect for clients who are in need of deep tissue work, but who do not want to experience the pointed pressure of elbows or thumbs. By working with gravity, Ashiatsu therapists are able to provide 3X the typical pressure in a massage. Clients will be asked for feedback on depth of pressure during the massage so the highest therapeutic quality can be delivered.

Hot Stone Massage

The hot stone massage builds upon the signature massage. Before your hot stone session you will go through the same intake process with your therapist to develop goals and a plan for your massage. You will also still have your choice of which aromatherapy oil blend to use for your session. The incorporation of the stones adds the crucial element of heat. By gliding the stones across the surface of the skin we begin to warm the fascia and deeper tissues. You can liken this to melting butter. Warming the tissue allows pressure from the stones and hands to slice through the blockages in the tissue more quickly and efficiently. This is an excellent option for clients who want deeper muscular work without sacrificing total relaxation. The hot stones melt muscular tension and I have observed many clients lulled into a twilight state between waking and dreaming. This service is one of my personal favorites. Add a deep moisture treatment to hands and feet for an even more luxurious feel.

Warm Bamboo Massage

Much like the hot stone massage, a warm bamboo massage is excellent for melting the muscle tissue with a deeply penetrating warmth. The difference is the bamboo retains the heat much longer than the stones making it excellent for a restorative deep-tissue massage. Additionally, there is an energetic benefit to this modality. According to the ancient Chinese, bamboo rods are able to circulate energy within them making them ideal for energy absorption and redistribution to restore energetic balance to an individual. Like any wood therapy treatment, this massage is excellent for moving lymph and diminishing cellulite. The bamboo is also rich in silicon, a natural strengthener of the skin.

Signature Massage

Each signature massage begins with an intake process in which your massage therapist and you design a plan to best address your needs in the service time booked. You’ll discuss your medical history, injuries, surgeries, as well as daily physical demands on your body from work or personal lifestyle habits. Once the goals for the session have been established, you’ll enjoy a blending of techniques from various modalities. As a therapist I prioritize palpation skills to assess the density of the tissue. After softening the tissue through Swedish techniques, I sink as deeply as it will allow to work on any adhesions or “knots” utilizing connective tissue and neuromuscular therapy. Once I’ve sufficiently worked the tissue to provide you with optimum relief, I then sooth the tissue again and quieten your nervous system through LomiLomi strokes. You have your choice of aromatherapy oil. Each blend is made with an oil that derives from rice to mitigate any concerns with nut allergies. 100% organic, food-grade essential oils are then mixed in to create each unique blend’s healing properties. Choose from muscular fatigue relief, stress relief, anxiety & depression relief, or headache relief.

Post-Surgical Lymphatic Drainage Massage

If you’re recovering from surgery this is the massage your surgeon likely recommended for you. The body experiences all surgeries as a trauma and will become inflamed and swollen. Post-surgical lymphatic drainage massage will assist in healing the trauma by increasing lymph and blood circulation as well as reducing recovery time. The body is prone to infection following surgery, and interacting with the lymphatic system in this way will fight infection by boosting metabolism and immunity.
While each body heals at different rates most surgeons require patients have 8-12 post-surgical lymphatic drainage sessions in a 2-3 week period for optimal results. These sessions will help get rid of excess anesthesia, reduce swelling, and flush any other by-products from the surgery.
Post-surgical lymphatic drainage massage has been shown to decrease bruising, decrease oedema (fluid retention), reduce pain, reduce scarring & fibrosis, prevent infection, reduce stress, shorten healing time, improve immunity, and improve skin texture & tone.

Lymphatic Cupping Massage

The lymphatic system is comprised of lymphatic vessels and nodes that filter lymph throughout the body. Unlike the circulatory system, there is no pump moving lymph through the body. Lymph is moved manually through our daily actions of walking, bending, twisting, etc. Lymph is rich in white blood cells and the purpose of the lymphatic system is to deliver these infection fighting cells throughout the body. Lymphatic cupping massage both aids in the delivery and elimination of lymph as well as its overall production. Silicone cups stretch open the lymphatic vessels and are glided along the body to move lymph toward the nodes located in the neck, armpits, and groin where toxins can be processed and released. This is an excellent option for anyone recovering from surgery, cancer treatment, or battling an autoimmune disease. Arguably the biggest benefit in the time of Covid-19 is the improvement to your immunity!

CBD Massage

CBD is derived from the hemp plant, a member of the cannabis family, similar to marijuana, but lacking in THC (the component that gets a user high). Historically and today, hemp has been used to treat nausea, pain, gout, malaria, inflammation, epileptic conditions, broken bones, overworked muscles, rheumatism, muscle and tissue injuries, and even some mental illnesses. Most people find that when taken orally CBD has an incredibly calming effect. When used topically it significantly diminishes muscle soreness and provides a slight tingling sensation. At Casa de Luz, the concentration of our CBD oils and creams are extra strength with 25mg of CDB per ounce. These are dilutable to a lower concentration upon request!
*Purchase a 4 ounce jar of our CBD cream for $60 to use for your massage and take the rest home with you to use again and again!
*Our CBD oil or cream can be added to any massage. Full body add-on= $50. Spot treatment= $25.

Thai Massage

Interestingly, the origins of Thai massage are believed to date back to ancient India citing deep influences from Yoga and Ayurvedic traditions felt in the sequencing and theory of practice. Indeed, if you’ve ever taken a yoga class, especially a restorative one, this massage modality may feel very familiar. This type of massage focuses in particular on the integration of mind, body, and spirit. Thai massage is practiced with the client fully clothed and without the use of oil making it a beautiful way to begin introducing touch therapy to yourself if you are touch averse. The massage is performed as a series of passive stretches interspersed with gentle rocking movements for increased joint mobility and range of motion. Meridian lines are worked through gentle compression over the clothing. You can choose to have your Thai Massage performed on the Table or more traditionally on a mat. At Casa de Luz, our mat is a Japanese floor mattress offering ample padding and comfort.

Couple’s Massage

At Casa de Luz, couples benefit from sequential massages meaning the massages are performed individually back to back. Both partners are welcome to remain in the massage room to observe techniques they can later practice on one another or there is a waiting room with a television and reading material. There is even nearby Westside Reservoir Park for exploring while you wait for your turn. Simultaneous couple’s massage may be possible with a mobile booking and advance notice so I can coordinate with another LMT. Ask about my couple’s massage workshop!

Lomi Lomi Massage

Also known as the “loving hands” massage, Lomi Lomi is a Hawaiian modality characterized by its long, flowing, continuous massage strokes. For a massage that works so deeply into the muscle tissue, it is inordinately relaxing. At the center of this modality is the belief that memories, emotions, and traumas are stored in every cell of the body. This is why the massage is performed in long, continuous strokes, to best address the interconnectivity of the body. Traditionally performed with a nut oil such as coconut or palm oil (and a lot of it), forearms and elbows are more heavily utilized to apply both broad and specific pressure. Rolling motions that mimic cresting and falling ocean waves are used across large muscle bodies. This massage modality also carries a bit of spirituality with it. The massage practitioner traditionally holds a moment of stillness at the beginning of the massage to invoke prayer or set an intention of healing.

Pre & Post-natal Massage

There was a moment in massage school when one of my instructors mentioned that when we massage a pregnant parent, it is one of the only times we will ever massage two people at once. This was highly formative to who I am as a therapist. When an expectant parent signs up for a pregnancy massage I am honored to place my hands onto the body and know that I am simultaneously facilitating a healthier, happier environment for the development of a child and enabling more relaxation and recovery for the mind and body of the parent carrying the child. My passion for this field of massage led me to complete additional training hours in this modality. As the client you can expect your massage to vary depending on how far along in the pregnancy you are. For massage performed after about 10 weeks, we begin to transition the client into a sideline position. Utilizing pillows, the client will be supported and aligned so that the spine is parallel to the table while the client rests on the side body. Many clients report that this position is incredibly cozy and usually fall asleep during the service. Post-natal massage, after labor, helps restore the body’s tissues and eliminates swelling. If for no other reason, young parents should come back in for the benefit of improved sleep quality.

Reiki

Reiki is a Japanese modality of energy work developed by Mikao Usai in the 1920s. Reiki means universal energy and that is exactly what is conducted during the service. The service is performed with clients fully clothed (unless added on to a massage) and reclined on the massage table. The energy worker will assess your aura or energy field and your seven chakras. Where blockages are found percussive sound therapy, smudging, crystals, symbol drawing, and cord cutting will be used to dispel stagnate energy. A reiki session is an energetic cleansing that can leave you feeling greater focus, lightness, and openness. Mention to your energy worker any specific concerns you might have and be sure to set an intention for what you’ll receive from the therapy as well.

Yoga, Meditation, and Sound Baths

Although each of these is grouped under one category, you may book a yoga, meditation, or sound bath session individually—they do not need to be booked as a set of services.
In a group yoga class, students will be led through a centering and intention setting warm up, followed by an asana practice flowing with the breath through a series of poses, finally culminating in an integrating savasana. Hands- on assistance will be provided to those open to receiving physical contact.
One-on-one instruction incorporates all of the above with specialized attention to bring your body into its correct alignment for each pose and more opportunities for philosophical and spiritual education. Types of yoga offered include: Hatha, Vinyasa, Yin, Restorative Yoga, Chair Yoga, and Yoga Nidra

Group meditation is a particularly sweet practice, as the vibrations we create collectively while meditating have an exponential effect on not only us, but our larger communities. In a group meditation we will all come together to lose our minds and find our souls. In one-on-one meditation there will be more of a focus on mentorship and on education of different meditation types.
30 Minutes Private Instruction = $50
30 Minutes Group Rate = $10 per person
A sound bath is a relaxing and restorative practice that can reattune the mind, body, spirit connection through sound therapy. Like a meditation session, a group sound bath would have the added benefit of raising collective vibration. Individualized sound baths are able to more specifically address a single client’s energy needs and often incorporate elements of Reiki. (Sounds Baths are currently unavailable for booking, but they are coming soon!)

Reflexology

Reflexology is performed by applying pressure to various points that correspond to organ systems within the body much like acupressure or acupuncture. Reflexologists, however, only apply pressure to these points in the hands and feet rather than across the entire body. As an alternative therapy, there is still much research being conducted, but so far the greater medical community seems to agree that reflexology may ease anxiety, muscular pain, labor pain, arthritis pain, symptoms of MS such as fatigue and skin sensitivity, cancer pain, and may improve sinus conditions and constipation. Add this service to a massage for an extra focus on your overall health.

Sports Massage

Sports massage is an umbrella term for a modality that alters pretty significantly depending on the type of athlete you are. Many liken sports massage to deep (connective tissue) massage with the addition of passive stretching. In many instances, this is precisely what a sports massage looks like. However, to achieve results related to your performance, flexibility, muscle recovery, and injury prevention, your therapist and you must discuss more completely the nature of your athleticism. Many athletes do not limit themselves to one form of sport or physical activity. If you run or cycle, it is also likely you lift weights, swim, or try to carry all of your groceries in one trip from the car. The entire activity of the body must be considered collectively in order to develop a short and long-term plan of care.

Exfoliating Body Scrub

Often described as a facial for the body, a body scrub exfoliates and hydrates your skin leaving it like silk. At Casa de Luz, your body scrub begins with gentle, manual exfoliation through dry brushing. Dry brushing has been shown to: remove dead layers of skin, stimulate blood flow, reduce cellulite & improve skin texture, improve the eliminatory power of the organs, increase muscle tone, and prevent premature aging. Following the dry brushing session, your selection of house-made body scrub will be massaged into the skin combining both chemical and mechanical exfoliation. To close, the scrub is removed with hot wet towels.
Half Body (30 Minutes) = $50
Full Body (60 Minutes) = $100
Detoxifying Body Mask

Much like its sibling the body scrub, body masks are like face masks for the whole body. Turns out skin covers more than just our faces and the treatments we know that benefit our facial skin can be applied to our full bodies. Cell turnover in the skin on our bodies is slower than that of facial skin, making the skin on our bodies prone to being dry, thick, and scaly. Additionally, our faces aren’t the only place we experience breakouts. Combat these concerns with a detoxifying body mask. Your choice of our house-made clay masks will be applied using brushes. While your mask settles into the skin consider adding a warm oil scalp massage or moisture mittens and booties. After your mask has had time to work its magic, it will be removed using hot wet towels.
Half Body (30 Minutes) = $50
Full Body ( 60 Minutes) = $100
Hydrating Body Wrap

An established spa favorite, body wraps can used to condition, tone & tighten, detoxify, and temporarily diminish water weight. At Casa de Luz, our favorite use for them is intense hydration. Your choice of house-made oil or body butter is lathered into the skin. You are then wrapped in plastic and swaddled in heat-retaining blankets to open the pores. Consider adding a warm oil scalp massage and/ or moisture mittens & booties while your skin absorbs some much needed hydration.
Full Body ( 30 Minutes) = $50
Body Treatment Enhancements

As you might recall from my earlier statements on the spa industry, I am not a fan of pushing product or enhancements on clients. What I will do is provide a list and description of enhancements I personally enjoy receiving and which I hope you might enjoy receiving too whenever the fancy strikes you.
CBD Oil or Cream $25 - $75
Add a spot treatment of our extra strength pain relieving CBD oil or cream to your services for $25 or a full body treatment for $50. 4 ounce jars of Aromatherapy infused CBD cream are available for $75 for you to take home with you and bring back for use again and again!
Warm Oil Scalp Massage (adds 15 minutes to service) = $35
Coconut oil is warmed and dripped across the hairline and massaged into the scalp. This is a deeply conditioning treatment that can help restore health to damaged hair.
Hot Stone (add stones to one or two areas or full body) = $15 - $30
The hot stone enhancement allows you to experience the benefits of the stones over one or two body regions of your choice. More often than not, clients opt for a little extra love applied to the back, neck, and shoulders.
Cool Facial Stones = $20
This treatment is great for reducing inflammation. Some clients notice tighter skin texture, smaller pores, and reduced redness. It also feels incredibly invigorating, especially when paired with a hot stone massage. The contrast of hot and cold is sublime.
Sculpting Facial Gua Sha = $20
Originally developed in China to treat heat stroke and seasonal diseases, the facial rejuvenating benefits of gua sha are now popularized in the Western beauty and wellness industry. Facial pressure points are massaged with smooth stones to release tension and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Stagnant lymph is circulated out of the face and neck revealing a rosy, de-puffed complexion. (Adds 15 minutes to appointment time)
Age-defying Facial Cupping = $20
The same principles of body cupping are at the foundation of facial cupping; however, their purposes and results differ. Smaller glass cups use to draw the superficial layer of the facial tissue away from the deeper layers of fascia. No marks are left behind and the skin is left plumped with fewer fine lines and wrinkles. (Adds 15 minutes to appointment time)
Aromatherapy Back or Hands & Feet Scrub = $25
Choose from our in-house made aromatherapy body scrubs to be applied to either the back or the hands & feet. This is a deeply exfoliating treatment that will help reveal your skin’s naturally smooth texture.
Aromatherapy Back or Hands & Feet Mask = $25
Choose from our in-house made aromatherapy body masks to be applied to either the back or hands & feet. This is a clarifying treatment to extract impurities from the pores revealing a healthy luster.
Aromatherapy Deep Moisture Mittens & Booties = $20
In this deeply moisturizing treatment hands & feet will be lathered in shea butter and covered in warmed aromatherapy mittens and booties.
